Salmonella Outbreak Hits 42 States !

An outbreak of Salmonella
food poisoning has hit 42 states. Nearly 400 people have become sick
from this outbreak. About one in 5 victims has ended up in the hospital.
One elderly woman died.

It is the same type of Salmonella bacteria that has been confirmed in at
least 388 cases so far. CDC has not determined which foods are causing
the problem.

Symptoms are diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps
approximately 12 to 72 hours after being infected. The illness lasts
about 7 days and most people recover without treatment.
The problem is the elderly, very young and those with a compromised immune system are at high risk!

CDC says, the best way to avoid this problem is repeated hand washing and to be careful when preparing raw meat.

It may be weeks or months until information is released about where it might be coming from. There are more then 2000 types of salmonella. Yearly they are about 40,00 cases reported. The most common type is Typhimurium. This type is found in meat and eggs.

The cases that are active now are different from last years cases which were related to vegetables, jalapeno and serrano peppers from Mexico

In my option the safest way to go is to practice a Vegan or Vegetarian diet, Its a healthier lifestyle with no threat of Salmonella poising that we has been on the up rise these last few years.
